Tree Trimming Is Dangerous Work

 
   


Tree trimming is a trade that demands rough and hardy individuals. Tree trimmers often work in extremely dangerous situations, risking life and limb to make way for electric lines, remove dead or dying limbs and trees or just to top trees to reduce height and increase the canopy. Because of the physical conditioning involved, it is primarily younger people involved in the work of tree trimming.

These rugged individuals don climbing belts and spikes, hoist chainsaws over the shoulders and climb trees as quickly as most people might walk down the street. Working 20, 30 or more feet above the ground, they are often suspended in the air with their lives and safety depending upon a coil of rope and the skill of making a tree limb fall in the desired direction.

Equipment Replaces Men In Pine Tree Trimming

Whether it is chain saw tree cutting or climbing to the top to trim a tree, this is a job that requires skill and reliable equipment. Chainsaws are top of the line makes and models, such as Husqvarna and Stihl. Safety equipment is mandatory and must be kept well maintained. Safety ropes are replaced regularly to ensure maximum strength.

One of the easier jobs for these daring individuals is pine tree trimming. These trees are straight and easy to trim and climb. The wood is soft and easy to cut with fewer chances of kickbacks or branches falling the wrong direction.

While tree trimmers will always be necessary, machinery continues to replace men in dangerous jobs. Highway departments and electrical company contractors or doing more of this work with a spinning blade on the end of a boom mounted on a wheeled vehicle. These machines can be operated by one person. Quicker, more efficient and safer techniques are coming to tree trimming.
