Armstrong Company

Founded by Thomas Armstrong in 1860 as a small cork cutting shop in Lancaster, PA, the company now known as Armstrong Holdings grew to be the largest cork producer in the country before expanding to linoleum in the early 1900s. From there additional products such as wood flooring, ceiling tiles, and cabinets were added to the company line.

Today Armstrong has three separate business units; floor, building, and cabinet products, and operates 44 plants in 12 countries. U.S. subsidiaries include Armstrong Wood Products, Inc., Bruce Hardwood Flooring LLC, Hartco Flooring Company, and Robbins Hardwood Flooring, Inc. Foreign subsidiaries are Armstrong DLW AG, Tapijtfabrick H. Dessaux N.V. (Desso), and Gema Holding AG.

The flooring division has both commercial and home sections, with a wide selection of products including vinyl sheet and tile flooring, laminate, riverstone, linoleum, ceramic and hardwood options. The commercial products line include floorings made specifically for the medical, education and retail business environments.
