In 1888 Johann Bauer, a Bavarian blacksmith
created a company he called Agricultural Machines
Works. Half a decade later, in 1946, one of his
descendants, Hans Bauer began making compressors
in the cellar of his family home in Munich. He
began with low pressure compressors but moved
to include high pressure ten years later.
From there, the company quickly branched out
into industrial and breathing air applications
and continued expanding through a series of innovations
which included the ROTA series compressor an
oil-free long running machine, and the SILENT
line of low pressure compressors that dramatically
reduced operating noise levels.
In
1976 Bauer
Compressors Inc. in Norfolk, Virginia
became the company’s first overseas location.
Today the BAUER Compressors Group is represented
worldwide by 11 subsidiaries, over 50 accredited
sales partners, and over 280 service stations.
The product range, reaching from portable
compressors to highly complex industrial
compressor systems means that Bauer compressors have an amazing
range of applications, from underwater exploration,
regulating the turbines in the Aswan Dam, and
helping power U.S. space shuttles. Bauer compressors
can also be found in race cars, airbags, fire
fighting equipment, and a host of other places.
