Julius
Blum GmbH, also known simply as the Blum company,
has been owned entirely by family members since
its founding by Julius Blum in March of 1952.
The Austrian based company began as a furniture
fittings manufacturer located in Höchst.
After working for several years to establish
itself in the industry, the company began expanding
its scope. In 1958 Julius Blum received the license
for the manufacture of Anuba brand fittings in
Austria. A series of innovations and such as
the production of concealed furniture hinges
beginning in 1964 and product expansions such
as the addition of drawer runners in 1966 and
cliptop hinges in 1999, helped the company establish
itself as a leader in the industry.
Blum
also expanded its operations to other counties
across the globe, including Blum-USA, which was
founded in Stanley, North Carolina in 1977. Today
the company is active in 70 countries around
the world and has subsidiaries and representatives
in 17 additional countries.
Blum
manufactures hinges, pull-out and drawer devices
and also devices for furniture
fittings. Other related products include wall
hanging brackets and connector fittings for
furniture such as shelving units. The company
recently added a design component to help customers
plan more functional kitchen spaces.
