The
company that first created Bristol compressors
began building its facility in Bristol, Virginia
in 1974. By early 1975, the company’s first
hermetic compressors were rolling out the doors.
Over the years, Bristol
Compressors continued
to grow and to improve its product. In the late
1980’s, the company was acquired by York
International, a large manufacturer of air conditioning,
heating and ventilation systems, and industrial
refrigeration equipment. Bristol provides the
compressors for its parent company’s equipment.
In
May of 1995, Bristol
Compressor announced the
formation of a partnership with Carlyle Compressors
to operate Scroll Technologies in Arkadelphia,
Arkansas. The new joint venture focused on the
development and production of scroll compressors.
And in 2003, the company formed a partnership
with EMBRACO, a Brazilian compressor manufacturer.
Today Bristol Compressors manufactures a full
line of hermetic and scroll
compressors, which
they provide to original equipment manufacturers
and wholesale distributors in six continents
and over 50 countries around the world. Their
products offer energy efficiency levels from
8.2 to 12.0 at ARI rating conditions. Product
capacities range from 13,000 to 294,000 Btu/hr,
which Bristol claims is the widest range of hermetic
air conditioning compressors available from one
source. In June of 2004, the company added a
new line of compressors called the Benchmark
series.
