Information about DeWalt tools

DeWalt Company

Even before DeWalt Products Company was established in Leola, Pennsylvania in 1924, its founder, Raymond E. DeWalt had perfected the first radial arm machine. His first product under his new company was an electric universal woodworking unit known as the Dewalt Wonder Worker. The company continued its research and development efforts and in the 1940s, it expanded rapidly as it worked to fulfill orders related to national defense during the war.

In 1947, Dewalt Products Company was reorganized and re-incorporated under DeWalt Inc., and in 1960 they acquired United States and Canadian patent rights to Richard C. Bennett Manufacturing’s Two-way Panel Saw. The company earned a solid reputation in the industry but stopped North American production of radial arm saws in 1989. Several years later it introduced its line of portable electric power tools and accessories specifically for contractors and professional woodworkers.

In 1994, DeWalt significantly increased its product offering with a line of over 30 new cordless tools, that included a drill/driver, saws, impact drivers and wrenches, flashlights and the first combination drill / driver / hammerdrill. They also offer drills, cordless screwdrivers, hammers, compressors, a line of metalworking equipment and other tools for the do-it-yourselfer and the professional.

DeWalt’s product line geared specifically toward woodworking includes tools such as joiners, planers, routers, sanders, table saws, nailers, and cutout tools. Products are sold worldwide through licensed retailers and an online site.
