The
Drill Doctor sharpening tool was introduced
by Professional Tool Manufacturing, LLC. In 1997.
This privately owned U.S. company, located in
Ashland, Oregon, drew on more than 30 years of
design and manufacturing experience by Darex
Corporation in designing their popular and effective
tool.
Created
in an effort to provide a way to salvage damaged
drill bits, the Drill Doctor brand of drill
bit sharpeners are said to restore 3/32" -
3/4" drills bits to factory-sharp condition
in less than a minute. An innovative and practical
tool, it was an immediate success. The company
reports that the Drill Doctor® line has sold
more than one million units since its introduction.
The sharpeners are available at major U.S. hardware
retailers, as well as through distributors in
25 nations around the world.
Drill
Doctor® drill bit sharpeners are available
as basic models. You can also get them as kits
with many extras. They come in six different
models designed to suit a variety of users,
from the handyman to the professional, and
include three designs that can be used to create
self-centering split points from standard bits.
