Echo chain saws

Echo Brand

When the Echo company was founded in Northbrook, Illinois in 1972, it was called Kioritz, after the parent company in Japan. It began as an importer of high-performance, 2-cycle engines and 2-stroke, engine-powered hand-held products. In 1978, the company name was changed to Echo and in 1979 they began initial production and assembly operations in Wheeling, Ill. The GT-200 Grass Trimmer was the company’s first lawn care product produced in the U.S. Soon after, products such as straight shaft trimmers and brushcutters, backpack and hand-held blowers, grass trimmers, hedge clippers and chain saws were added.

A company branch was established in Canada and in 1985, Echo established its present-day U.S. corporate headquarters in Lake Zurich, Illinois.

For many years, the company’s products were distributed through a dealer network, but in 1994, Echo partnered with Home Depot to provide a line of hand-held outdoor power equipment for the residential homeowner market. In 1997, Echo added to its production and distribution by acquiring Technic Tool Corporation.

Echo offers several choices in chain saws including the CS-301 top handle trimming saw, the CS-305 with rear handle control, the CS-341, a more powerful saw preferred by more demanding users and professional arborists, and the CS-440, one of the companies most popular vertical engine saws. For serious logging operations, Echo also offers the CS-8000 with 80.7 ccs.
