Adolf
Haefele and Hermann Funk founded Haefele
Company in 1923. The venture began as a retail
outlet for joinery equipment and supplies outlet
in Aulendorf, Germany. In 1928, the company headquarters
was moved to Nagold, which put it in the center
of the local furniture industry. This provided
an appropriate location for a company that eventually
became known for its line of furniture fittings
and hinges.
Haefele
expanded operations through purchasing several
other companies and by opening subsidiaries
and sales offices in over 30 other countries.
Haefele America was founded in 1973 in Avon Lake,
Ohio. The headquarters for the U.S. operations
was later relocated to the present day location
at High Point.
In
1983, developers at Häfele invented
the Minifix fitting and a new period of growth
and development of connectors ensued. The company’s
comprehensive hardware technology supply range
includes furniture fittings, architectural hardware,
and the electronic locking system Dialock.
Hafele
is well known for its abundant supply of fittings
with over 30,000 to choose from. "The
Complete Häfele" a reference of thousands
of hinges and hardware products produced by the
company is considered a Bible of the industry
and is used by professionals around the world.
