Background on Hapfo woodturning lathes

Hapfo Company

The Pfohl company Hapfo was established in 1925. Involved with the woodworking business from the start, the company, which eventually became known as Hapfo began developing wood milling lathes early on in its growth.

Today Hapfo customers can pick from a selection of nearly 40 different lathes and feature combinations including smaller hobby turning lathes to industrial CNC woodturning lathes for shops, schools and other commercial use. The company’s best selling lathe has cast iron construction, variable speed controls, a 30 - 60mm traveling steady with self centering jaws. It is capable of a 10-minute conversion to do twist and flute work. The top of the line commercial Hapfo woodturning lathes are programmable for operations such as turning, twisting, sawing, fluting, engraving, boring, and sanding.

The company sells their German made woodturning lathes throughout the world through subsidiaries in several countries including Canada, the U.S. and most of Europe. Many shops, such as Mitchellwood Limited located in the U.K, produce copy lathes based on designs and specifications of those made in Germany. They also offer onsite training for customers.
