The Hoffmann Machine Company, Inc. was founded
in Long Island, New York in 1992. It is the North
American subsidiary of Hoffmann GmbH Maschinenbau
of Bruchsal, Germany. There are also Hoffman
Machine Company locations in Canada and Great
Britain.
The
company offers several product lines including
a dovetail joining system, which can be used
to assemble mitered cabinet doors, compound-mitered
crown moulding, furniture bases, moulding frames,
and other items that require joining. This system
eliminates the need for any additional fasteners.
The unique fasteners, called Hoffmann Dovetail
Keys, range in length from 1/4" to 4",
made of either plastic or solid wood. Different
colors, shapes and sizes can be produced for
specific applications.
The company also has a portable doweling system
called the Hoffmann PDS-32. The system is made
in Germany and sold through the company’s
global network. The popular doweling system
has a powerful motor, a tilting, cast aluminum
fence, and spring loaded steel plungers for
precise drilling of dowel holes. A built-in
port facilitates connection with a dust collection
hose or vacuum system.
