Holz-Her Company founder, Karl Matthias Reich
came from a family of rafter producers who lived
in the Black Forest region of Germany. He founded
his company in 1914 with an initial focus on
wire ware and devices for the processing of wire.
But by 1925, the company was manufacturing electric
woodworking machines, such as stationary carpentry
machines and stationary circular saws. These
products became associated with the phrase Holz-Her,
which is what carpenters on rooftops shouted
when they wanted more timber for the frame.
In 1932 the company produced its first butchery
band saw under the trade name of REICH. And in
1936, the company marketed its first electric
tool, a hand-held circular saw. This set the
tone for future development, and in 1983, Wulf
W. Reich, a grandchild of the original founder,
established REICH Special Machines GmbH, which
focuses entirely on the development, construction
and marketing of stationary woodworking machines
such as panel saws and edge banders.
Woodworking machines and systems available through
the company include edgebanders, CNC
machining centers, pressure beam saws, vertical panel saws,
and also a panel storage system. And in 1992,
Holz-Her introduced a new product family called
the BEAM Saw.
