Leatherman tool tips

Leatherman Company

The Leatherman Tool Company was founded by Tim Leatherman. As Tim was travelling through Europe, he came across common problems such as leaky pipes and car troubles. He then created the Pocket Survival Tool in 1975. That tool has evolved quite a bit over the years. In 1977 with the help of his brother-in-law, the multi-function tool began to take shape.

By 1979 the tool had taken on its soon-to-be famous shape of a pocket tool that combined fully functional pliers and a pocket knife in one tool. Tim called his invention Mr. Crunch but it had a slow start. The tool companies thought it was a knife and the knife companies thought it was a tool so there was confusion of how to market it.

Around 1986, popularity of the tool began to grow and by 1993 the company sells more than a million tools in a year. Today, they are continuing to improve on the design and the Leatherman tool has taken on many forms. You can visit the website today and see the many different versions and combinations they have.

There is a Leatherman tool for virtually everyone, male and female alike. How many times have you been searching for a knife or a screwdriver or even a pair of pliers or wire cutters? You can have all your tools in one combined device. Leatherman tools make great presents. Everyone could use a Leatherman tool. They even have small keychain versions that can be with you at all times.

The Leatherman company does a service to the community by employing hundreds of people. They take pride in their customer service industry and they participate in community outreach programs such as the Portland Fire and Rescue.

Leatherman tools can be found at your local Wal-Mart. K Mart and similar locations. The website even offers you a chance to search for locations near your zip code that sell Leatherman tools.
