almost 100 years. Founded in 1906 by R. E. Porter,
G. G. Porter and F. E. Cable, the Porter Cable
company was just a jobbing machine and tool shop
ran out of a garage in Syracuse, New York. They
began with an ivestment of only $2,300 and manufactured

lighters, an old fashioned pencil sharpener,

new employees. In 1921, Art Emmons was added
to the team which led to his invention of teh
