Natural gas compressor

A natural gas compressor is easily visible in virtually very community and especially in every town. You may be wondering where you might seen one in your town. If you visit the nearest gas station, you will see not only one natural gas compressor, but perhaps several. A natural gas compressor is what takes the natural gas from the tank below the ground to bring it to the gas tank of your vehicle.

Use of natural gas compressors

Natural gas compressors are the most widely used compressors in homes and industries. They are used in home heating and in making photographic film, synthetics, ink, glue and many other products that we use every day. Natural gas compressors are also used to generate electricity and many believe that eventually all our electricity will come from natural gas. This is because natural gas plants are cleaner in the environment than the coal plants because they produce fewer air-pollutants.

You can also have a small compressor instead of an electric one. Some appliances in homes and businesses run on natural gas as opposed to electricity such as dryers and stoves. The gas is delivered to the tank outside the home and the customer uses it as is needed. Instead of paying electric utility bills, you pay the gas bill. With the rising cost of gas, these appliances have come to be more expensive to run.

The best natural gas unit to have are those that run at a low speed. The lower speed reduces the amount of gas that is used, thus cutting down on the gas bill. This also helps to preserve the life of the compressor, reducing the need for a lot of service calls for repair of parts.

Developments in technology are making the natural gas compressor easier to use and longer lasting. For example, Gardner Denver natural gas compressors have a shape which is asymmetrical to the rotor, providing a better seal within the rotor grooves to minimize slippage and vibration and improve efficiency. The next time you are shopping for a compressor, why not try a natural gas compressor?

Note: Do not get confused between a natural gas and a gas driven compressor. These are different things.
