Die Cutting Is Efficient Parts Making Process

Cutting materials into specific shapes usually involves die cutting technologies. Die cutting is the process of cutting a material into specific shape and size. This process is used by manufacturers that need a number of pieces made in the same shape and size. Examples of die cut items include such things as gaskets, seals, shims, templates, washers and even puzzle pieces. Die cutting technologies enable many companies to produce parts cheaply and efficiently.

Cutting services perform a wide range of jobs with a wide range of materials. Die cut machines are just as varied as the work they produce. There are machines that use knives for cutting ,others that use lasers and still others that use ultrasonic technologies for cutting and shaping. Some machines are used to cut flat sheets of stock and others employ rotary cutting heads for shaping products out of continuous rolls of material.

Small Manufacturers Use Die Cutting Machines And Processes To Make An Infinite Variety Of Parts

A wide variety of materials are used by die cutting services to make the pieces they produce. There are machines and services that cut steel and others that cut felt, cork, paper, a wide range of metals, plastics, rubber, foams, sponges, various composites, foils and laminates. There are even machines designed for die cutting wood. Die cutting is used for everything from cutting highly technical seals for space ships to creating the folds, creases and tabs in brochures and presentation folders.

Many hobbiests and small manufacturers employ die cutting services. These services can assist with CAD/CAM support and some design assistance. They can also help in estimating and calculating costs associated with the processes and building prototypes. Many of these services will also do short runs of the product as well as high volume production. Many of the products we use today depend upon the crucial and wide open field of die cutting.
