Different types of drilling

Safety While Drilling

Drilling is something that is required a lot when on construction jobs and in the automotive industry. There are different tools required for each type of drilling and many drilling tools are best suited for outdoors. When drilling materials of any kind care should be taken to wear protective eyewear to keep pieces from damaging the eyes.

Concrete drilling

Many times, the concrete of a basement has to be drilled after the home is built in order to put in water or sewer pipes. This may even involve concrete drilling of the street in front of the house to reach the needed connections. Concrete drilling requires a rotary hammer, often called a jack hammer, in order to crush the concrete and make an opening. Drilling through concrete is also necessary to install air conditioning in certain buildings.

Drilling ceramic tile is needed when you want to install towel bars in the bathroom. This type of drilling is very hard to do without a diamond bit with a wet cutting chuck. The wet drilling requires a lot of clean up work because it sprays all over the place. With an ordinary drill, you need to have a special bit used for masonry to avoid spoiling the whole wall of ceramic tile.

Drilling stainless steel

Drilling stainless steel requires a lot of coolant. The steel becomes hot and a water soluble fluid keeps the bits cooed down. This type of drilling is usually done in industrial settings, such as for making sinks and stoves and installing equipment in factories and restaurants.
