The beauty of ceramic tile flooring

Ceramic tile flooring combines durability and a timeless beauty to add effect to any room of your house. In addition to being beautiful, ceramic tile flooring is one of the oldest and longest lasting of all flooring materials. Ceramic tile flooring is best suited for entryways, bathrooms and kitchens and for any other areas that are exposed to high traffic.

Where to buy ceramic tile flooring

Ceramic tile flooring is not hard to find. It is sold at virtually every store that sells flooring. If the store does not keep this type of flooring in stock, they will certainly know where to buy ceramic tile flooring and can either give you another store location or order it in for you.

When you buy ceramic tile flooring there are four things you have to take into consideration: size, shape, color and finish. There are different sizes of squares available in ceramic tile flooring ranging from tiny - ¼ inch all the way up to 14 inches. The most common tile used for flooring is 12 inches square. You can get them in all geometric shapes, but you have to consider your level of experience in installing ceramic tile flooring and the level of difficulty that might be involved with each shape. You can choose a color that suits your present décor, so you can avoid extra costs in redecorating as there is a wide variety of colors available. You can have ceramic tile flooring with glazed tiles, but these tend to get slippery when they get wet. You can also have unpolished stone for your ceramic tile flooring.

Ceramic tile flooring tools

When you start installing ceramic tile flooring your will need to have the following tools:

  1. Heat gun (you can also use a iron or a hair dryer)
  2. Putty knife
  3. Chalk line
  4. Adhesive for the floor covering
  5. Notched trowel
  6. Hammer
  7. Roller

When installing new tiles, you must make sure that the surface is completely free of any dust and dirt. Divide the room into four sections and work one section at a time. Apply the adhesive on one tile at a time and lay it on the floor. Once you have all the tiles installed, cut the border tiles to fit around the edges. Use a roller to roll the tiles out flat. The only problem is that you have to wait until the adhesive is set before walking on the ceramic tile flooring.
