An
overview of floor stripper
Floor
stripper is a very dangerous material used
by those in the flooring business.
Floor stripper usually comes in two different
forms either as liquid for
stripping large areas and a ready to use liquid
used for removing the floor finish from baseboards.
Both forms of floor strippers can contain
harmful chemicals such as Monoethanolamine,
Butoxyethanol and Sodium
Hydroxide.
Because
of the risks involved to those who use floor
stripper, you should really minimize its use.
There are few risks involved to those who live
in a house or are in a building where floor
stripper is used except for those who may be
allergic to the fumes.
Reduce
the amount of floor stripper that you use
- You can cut back on the stripping that you have
to do by keeping abrasive dirt particles from
reaching the floor in the first place.
- Keep
dirt outdoors. Use walk-in mats at each entrance
to the building. Clean these mats frequently.
- Use
dust mops and vacuums to sweep up dirt frequently.
- Wet
mop the floor with a liquid cleaner or surface
buffing product.
Using
floor stripper is just one of many basic
flooring
tools, you have to monitor the result of
the finishing that you do to a floor. Wear
protective equipment when using it (safety
googles and gloves). You can also wear some
breathing protection equipment. Keeping these
precautions in mind will keep you healthy whenever
you use floor stripper.
