What wide plank flooring tools are needed?

When installing wide plank flooring, you will need to have a variety of tools on hand depending on the type of wood plank you are using. If it is plank you have had sawed yourself, then you will need a planer to smooth out the roughness on the edges. Even if you purchased the wide plank flooring, you will need saws to cut the necessary lengths when you are fitting it around the edges of the room or around the cupboards in the kitchen, You will also need nails or screws as well as a hammer. If you decide to glue down the flooring, you will need the glue and the necessary applicators.

How to install wide plank flooring

There are three methods you can use when installing wide plank flooring. The most common method is called blind nailing. The nails are hidden in the tongue and groove part of each plank. This is easily done by using an air hammer. A second method of installing wide plank flooring is screw and plug. The planks are screwed in place by countersinking the screws and then the holes are plugged. This method is very time consuming, but works well if you have a helper, especially someone who knows how to install wide plank flooring in this manner. A third method is face nailing, which is just simply nailing the plank and leaving the nails exposed.

The work involved with this type of flooring is well worth it when you can sit back and enjoy the beauty of your wide plank flooring.
