Stanley tools have been a familiar name to woodworkers
and homeowners for more than 160 years. Frederick
T. Stanley started a company in New Britain,
Connecticut to manufacture door bolts. Since
that time the company has grown into one of
the world’s largest suppliers of locks,
woodworking and hand tools.
The
stanley tool company today markets its products
in more than 130 different countries. In keeping
with the company’s original purpose, Stanley
continues to make door bolts and a wide array
of door assembly and lock products. But, it is
much more. The company also makes automatic door
equipment, consumer storage equipment, home decor
products, hand tools, hardware, hydraulic tools
and industrial storage equipment. The Stanley
Works also manufactures a professional grade
of tools sold under the Mac brand name as well
as pneumatic tools and specialty tools.
The
Stanley Tape Measure Measures Up Worldwide
Stanley
measuring tools include the
stanley tape measure in a variety of sizes and configurations. These
tape measures are produced in seven basic configurations,
each with specific features such as the Powerlock and the Leverlock systems. They include both
US/English and Metric measurements. These tapes
come in lengths from six feet to 100 feet.
These tape measurers are sold in nearly every
store selling handtools. The chances are good
that if there is a tape measure on the workbench,
it is a Stanley.
The stanley planer is a hand tool that the company
has made and sold for many years. Models include
both block plane and bull nose planes. The blades
are high carbon steel to maintain a sharp edge.
These planes are ergonometrically designed and
have extra blade storage in their handles. Interchangeable
blades can be used for either bullnose or regular
work as well as work on plastic and laminates.
