Ranges in plywood prices

There are many plywood prices. Like most other wooden products, the value of plywood is determined by quality. Plywood quality is determined by plywood thickness, as well as the size of the plywood sheet, in situations where it is used for building. Plywood is one of the most used, as well as one of the most versatile, materials used in construction, especially in homes. There are many uses for it within the home, and many stores sell products made from plywood. In fact, with so many uses, plywood prices range from the very affordable to the rather expensive.

Plywood is made from thin, veneered wooden panels stacked perpendicularly on top of each other (for strength) and then exposed to great heat and pressure. This forces the panels together, creating the plywood. The number of panels used to make the board determine plywood thickness.

Plywood sheet use for home construction

When a home is built, plywood is often used for interior walls. While usually four feet by eight feet, a sheet can be as big as four feet by ten feet, and custom sizes (prices for these can be quite high). However, grade A plywood, which is the highest quality and therefore more expensive, can be rated for exterior use. The least expensive grade of plywood sheet is D, and should never be used outside. Plywood thickness ranges from one-eighth of an inch to one and one-eighth inches. The use depends a great deal upon how thick or how big (and consequently how expensive) the plywood sheet is. Not only is plywood useful for walls, but it can be used to build fixtures and kitchen counters inside the home.

Plywood for wooden furniture

Because plywood is made from wood, it can be used to make furniture. The lower grades are often used to make things like bookshelves and entertainment centers. These items can be bought in department stores and sometimes assembled in the home. Additionally, tables and chests can easily be fashioned from plywood. One of the priciest forms of plywood is Finnish plywood, or finply. This is plywood of the highest quality. Tables made with finply can cost more than $1,000, while a lower grade plywood can weigh in at closer to $100 for a table or desk.

Plywood is used for many things in today’s world, and luckily for the consumer, there is a variety of plywood prices.
