plywood siding for your house

The use of plywood siding

Plywood siding can be used to cover a home. Not only does it look attractive, it is easier to care for than an exterior covered with paint. As long as one makes sure adequate waterproofing procedures are followed, there should be no reason why highly graded plywood cannot be used to beautify the outside of a home. Wood siding is not a new innovation. It does need to be specially treated in order to make sure that water is sealed out, however. Wood siding can become warped and cracked when exposed to water and then dried out. Because plywood siding is made a little differently, it can be easier to care for than wood siding.

Siding itself can have a waterproofing effect on a home, protecting the outside walls while creating an attractive exterior. Plywood can make an excellent material for wood siding. Plywood is made from panels of wood forced together with heat and pressure. Because the panels are laid on each other perpendicularly, the grains go opposite directions, creating strength. It is important, however, to make sure that the plywood chosen for your wood siding is graded and stamped for outdoor use. There are many grades of plywood, and a low quality grade can result in swollen panels that can actually begin to break down. Professional siding installers should automatically have high grade plywood to use on the home. If you are a do it yourselfer, however, it does not hurt to find out about siding and plywood grades to ensure that you are not met with a nasty surprise later on down the road. Higher grades of plywood are smooth and paintable. They are also very easy to use in waterproofing and protection procedures.

A look at plywood flooring

Plywood is not just for covering the outside of the home. It can be used to cover floors on the inside of the home. A high grade plywood used for flooring can be quite attractive. Because it is possible to stain or cover the plywood with coloring, plywood flooring covered with laminate can look like hardwood.

No matter how you use it, plywood can make an attractive floor, or nice plywood siding.
