The Jigsaw History Overview

The Jigsaw Is An Important Woodworking Tool

The jigsaw has made cabinet making, crafting and many other intricate cutting tasks much easier. Sometimes ideas for power tools come from the strangest places and this is certainly one example. In 1946, a Bosch employee came up with the idea of attaching a saw blade to his wife’s sewing machine. The saw blade darting up and down in place of the needle gave birth to this versatile tool design.

Today, woodworking with a jigsaw in the tool cabinet is a given. These saws are used for cutting shapes and intricate designs in boards and panels. Before the portable jigsaw, wookworkers used tools such as the hand coping saw to accomplish these tasks. These tools have evolved just as other power tools have over the 55 years.

One of the most popular models of the dewalt jigsaw today is the cordless jigsaw. This saw uses a high-powered 18V battery. The saw employees a keyless chuck and a built-in dust blower. The saw has a 1“ stroke and the adjustable shoe bevels up to 45 degrees in either direction.

The Modern Bosch Jigsaw Is Still An Industry Leader

The bosch jigsaw is still an innovative leader in the marketplace. Today, the company offers a variety of saw configurations, including the top handle, barrel grip and the 24V cordless models. These models are a long way from the experimental sewing machine fitted with a saw blade and would certainly be a welcome addition to any woodworker’s tool cabinet.

The jigsaw makes intricate cutting work much easier. Challenging patterns and designs become a snap with a jigsaw.
