Using
skate sharpeners is obviously not a tool that everyone
is going to have in their workshop unless they skate frequently
during the winter months. Skate sharpeners are used to
keep your skates sharp and clean. If you have dull
blades your skating will be hindered, causing
you to fall and slip a lot. If you are professional
skater you will want to invest in reliable and durable
sharpening machine to keep your most important equipment
in optimum working order. Use caution when using any
types of sharpeners, whether you are using
electric or manual ones.
A manual
skate sharpener is a tool that you might want to keep
in the bag that you tote back and forth to the ice arena
so that you can use it all the time. Or you may want
to buy a heavy-duty machine that professionals
use and keep it in your workshop to sharpen your skates
when you get home.
How to sharpen skates
Sharpening
skates is easy and can be done in just a few minutes.
You will have to sharpen each skate on its own using
the sharpener according to its instructions. Make sure
that you tuck in the laces to keep them out of the way.
Hold the skate upright and slip the blade into the tool
carefully. If you have a manual sharpener run the
blade up and down. If you are using an electric machine
the blade will slide automatically through the sharpener
and all you have to do is hold the skate upright. Clean
the blades afterwards and they will be ready for the
next time you are on the ice.
